I recently had the opportunity to reunite with my very best childhood friend. It had been 41 years since we had seen each other and we will be forever grateful to you for creating and developing this website. She happened to be browsing through the old Solodex and saw my entry and e-mailed me. What a wonderful couple of days we spent together reminiscing about our childhood and growing up in Elmira. To my happy surprise, she lives in Florida, just one hour from my Florida home. The chances of our ever meeting again were slim to none but thanks to you, those odds changed. I hope that other "displaced" Elmirans are able to do the same.

Daryle (DAR) Pryor Lutz 31-May-2002 High School: Class of: Southside 1954 Now living in: Franklin, NC [ E-mail ]  We live in North Carolina in the summer and Ft. Myers, Fla. for the winter. We have 2 children (son and daughter) and 2 wonderful granddaughters. We will be married 45 years in July. The kids are planning a trip for us. Last time I was Elmira was Febuary, 2001. Had to take my Stepmother's car away. Not sure I am allowed back. I had to learn to drive in snow again and did lots of sliding around.

I have lived in Binghamton since moving away. I do get back once in a while and drive around the old neighborhood. It sure brings back some great memories.

My parents and one brother still live up in the area so I get up there every so often. I have many happy memories of Eldridge Park, Joycrest and other places. One of my fondest is of the cheese bread from Ken's Bakery down in the Heights. What I wouldn't give for that recipe!! Yum! Would love to hear from anybody up there who knew me!

Working on Multi-million dollar airplanes, Gulfstream Aerospace(WWW.Gulfstrem.com),customizing them for Corporate execs, Re-married to a wonderful Lithuanian Woman,10 years my junior. She was impressed with me because I knew where her country was, thanks Mr. Hosey,(History and Geo. teacher) I had married in '79, and divorced in '96, but have two wonderful daughters, Jennifer, class of 1997 TAE, and Lisa 17, who is handicapped, but is my Joy and delight, and without a doubt a Gift from God. who I miss dearly. I love visiting Elmira, but quite truthfully, it is not the same place we grew up in, don't know where or when it changed so much, Agnes'72, or even the City council for the past twenty years, but it is different, I moved away in Feb 2000, and like I said it is still nice to visit, I miss the sound of thunder storms rolling in the hills, But I do not want to live there any more, there is a whole world outside of Chemung County and for some reason it only filters in to our home town by a small trickle, everywhere it seems is a deluge of Info, manufacturing, housing and life. Take care all, in and out of the place we call HOME

Bonnie Hartzell Moore 02-May-2002 High School: Class of: Elmira Free Academy 1968 Now living in: Lemoyne, PA [ E-mail ]  Just visited Elmira this past weekend, what a trip, it was strange after all these years...familiar but not! Got together with Linda Sheets Gelz, Kathy Dunn, Barbara Moak, Tony Roe (66) and others at the Heights Legion. It was a fun time. I have 6 children and 4 grandchildren and have been widowed for 9 years now. I work for a manufacturer of small games of chance after managing a private club for 11 years...needed 9 to 5 at my age. Would love to hear from classmates, especially Debbie Schneider, I reunited with Linda Sheets this past October and would love to find my other best friend all through high school. If anyone out there knows where she is email please.

After that I was in Alabama for a couple of months (Yes, EVERYTHING they say about Alabamians is true!). Now I've decided to settle down in Georgia and become a good ol' housewife. Jimmy Greene 05-Apr-2002 High School: Class of: Elmira Free Academy 73 Now living in: Durham, NC [ E-mail ]  I'm happy to say that i'm married now, to a great lady who has produced for me, 2 beautiful children. A boy, 2 years old and my little girl, 5. And there's not a Scooby Doo episode that I haven't seen!! I've been married for 12 years now and the family is strong. Although my mother passed away a couple of years ago, my father still lives in Elmira and is doing well and as long as he's there, I'll be coming home from time to time just to give my dear old dad a big hug whenever I or he, needs it! If by chance anyone decides to head south...give me a hollar and y'all stop on through. We eat real good down here and I can show off some of our southern hospitality!!
