Damn do I ever miss that little town! I actually graduated in 84'...Long story..I now live in Florida and will never leave here but I miss the years(80-87) that I lived there in Elmira.

Graduated from NYU. Entered education, teaching first at
Copiague LI then Garden City and then moved to CA. Had a great
career on the SF Peninsula in
Hillsborough--a wealthy suburb
of San Francisco.

My high school years in Elmira were awesome. SHS class of 1981--great year!
Stayed in Elmira for college as well. Then worked at the Arnot Art Museum for nearly 7 years (though I would have stayed there forever). Moved to Rochester in 1994 and have always missed Elmira.
I remember my visits home the first few years after moving away. I always thought to myself that Elmira would stabilize. But then I was shocked that each time I visited, more downtown businesses had gone out of business.
Would love to move back, but still don't see job opportunities.

Been hear since 1979, seems like yesterday. The older I get the more I miss home. Looking forward to finding out about 30 year Reunion. Anyone got any news? I like Florida weather (except the Hurricanes), don't miss the snow, but miss ; the mountains, the quiet (never thought I would say that) the seasons, the people... Cruising on the back roads (do it everytime I come home only don't have a '69 GTO to cruise in) Looking forward to coming home in the Spring...

I was just washing old bottles to put in our antique store and I came across an old, probably pre-1800's bottle for "Frostilla, fragrant lotion" Elmira, NY, USA. I had to check out your town. Nice website, cute town!

Moved to Elmira at the age of 12. Went to school at Riverside Elm. over next to the old Brands Park and Swimming Pool. Then moved to Horseheads, went to HHs, then moved back to the Southside. Went to school at Southside High. Lived in Erin when the flood of "72" hit. My daughter was born in Elmira in "75". Left Elmira in "77", did some moving around and ended up here in Tx. have been here since late 70's. Benn home once back in the late 90's. Sure do miss it there. My fav time of year was spring,fall and the winters. Hope to make it back again some day.

"Discovered" this site the other day while surfing at lunch time. There is a wealth of information here. I saw the name Nate Kornfeld; I believe he was in Boy Scout troup 6 with me. After graduating Elmira College, I moved south to Jacksonville, then to Atlanta, then farther south to Tampa. Maybe one day I will end up in the Caribbean. Would love to hear from anyone. mark

 Hi Everyone, My husband, Paul, & I moved out here in 1982. I got into Real Estate the next year and have been doing it ever since. We don't go back to Elmira much any more now that my folks are gone. I did go to my class reunion a couple years ago and it was good to see so many old friends. Some looked almost the same and a couple of others, I would have never recognized. Elmira is a nice town to say you are from, but honestly, I don't think I would be happy there now. Wonder what ever happened to the old A&P plant after it closed down?

Graduated from southside in 1977. have been living in arizona for the past 8 years and loving it. I am trying to locate an old friend of mine by the name of Laurie Dolan/Drake/Ryan. She has 3 daughters named Erica, Kristen and Kelly and I would love to contact her if anyone knows of her whereabouts or her address or phone number please email it to me. I lost touch with her when i moved to arizona and was not able to make it back for her mothers funeral a few years ago and i have been trying to locate her address ever since. I haven't been "home" since 1980 and in 19 days I'm leaving Las Vegas for Elmira for vacation. My FIRST STOP will be at the M&M hot dog stand. I can't wait to see Harris Hill, Rorick's Glen, the "DAM' where we used to fish all night long, Miller's Pond and the downtown Holiday Inn. I'll be eating the chicken at Curley's and Green Pastures, the pizza from Puggie's, a steak at Moretti's and fried fish at Jean's Beans. I'll be there on Oct 13th and leave on Oct 20th and be staying at the Holiday Inn. If anyone reads this from Elmira that knows me, please track me down or send me an email. It's a long way in many ways from Las Vegas to Elmira...

 Elmira, With the mountains and the river winding lazily through the city. The church steeples reaching towards the heavans. The victorian mansions. the family and friends that i made there. Its almost funny that growing up Elmira was the worst place. when we reach adulthood, We appreciate what Elmira really is...HOME.

What has happen to Elmira Football.Playing for Efa 1977-1981 and having won the title in 80-81. I am constantly whatching our teams lose.I see what the corning teams are doing and there is something to be learn there.Are our coaches too pridefull to look at programs that work,and follow there example.With all the talent we have in Elmira we can't put together a winning team.Dick Senko taught about pride in our selves,and we never ever quit.Coaches lead and motivate players to Win.Where have gone Blain Fowler Elmira football needs your help

My fiance came home from New York and I showed him the website with all of the pictures. Even though he is stationed in New York he has never been through our little town. When I showed him the pictures he got sad and said he can understand why we miss home and then he said when we go home again he wants to come with us. He grew up here in Boston but his is a 100% Mashpee Indian and he goes to his families birth place every time he comes back to Boston. He said that from the pictures it reminds him of Mashpee and where his family is from.
We will be coming home in October.
