I do miss Elmira and all the folks there! I left in 1979 and have come back on a couple of occasions.. hope to come back soon and stay a bit longer. My parents were Betty and Val (Pemar) Clark (both have past away), and we resided in Elmira until 1970, and then lived in Horseheads until 1979. God's blessings to all!

Left Elmira in '60 and resided in NJ untill retirement in '94. We have two daughters and three grandchildren. Nan (class of '57 EFA) retired from M&M Mars and I retired from Thomas & Betts; Elastimold Div.

It is still a great sight and enjoy reading all the comments from all the former residents. We both miss the rolling hills and the beautiful lakes in the area.

Our traveling now is over to the westside of FL. and up to the Michigan area were the children are living.

As many others have commented, Elmira will always be 'home' and I miss it.

I've been through several Elmira's in my travels since leaving Elmira in 1982. I live about 100 miles west of Elmira, Oregon...Pass throught it every time I go to Eugene. The sight of the Elmira sign on the highway always brings back memories.
Did some checking with AAA auto club and came up with all these other Elmira's...Elmira, California... Elmira, Idaho...Elmira, West Virginia...Elmira,Indiana... Elmira,Illinois...Elmira,Mic higan...Elmira, Missouri...Even found Elmira,Ontario, Canada and Elmira, Prince Edward Island, Canada....can,t tell you if any were named by former locals that moved away...but you never can tell

I haven't looked at this site for a very long time. It has changed a lot and is much more professional. Nice work. I would love to hear from others who grew up around the Riverside School area.

Left Southern California because it became too expansive, crowded and crazy and moved to the Hill Country of Texas. Much more relaxed lifestyle! Great site, keep up the good work.

Still looking for any family or friends who knew Silas Robert MacMillan around WW2. We now know he had 6 sisters, Mary, Margaret, Emma, Mahala, Bertha, and Elizabeth. We know he was born in PA as was his father but spent a lot of time in Elmira. He worked there in 1937 at the Western Union Telegraph office. That is the last known whereabouts we have for his parents, Silas and Bertha MacMillan also. Family may also have spelled name McMillan. We know Silas was married between 1937 and 1943 but we are sketchy on details. Can anyone help us? Thanks!

Just recently spent spent time looking at another web site (Tri-County) Chemung,Tioga, and Bradford. Found some old memories such as Pic's of "Windy" Smith, for anyone who is old enough to remember him. I come back across the Mason Dixon about once a year, but enjoy all of the old stories and pics. Great site to whom ever is responsible, and I would like to see some pics of the old Odd Fellow's Hall in Pine City. I and 3 of my brothers attended school there in the early and mid 50's. Thanks

We live here in Elmira, but still enjoy getting on the Elmira website and reminising about the good old days. Seeing the various names and comments brings us back to the early 50's when Life was really great in Elmira. We may not have appreciated it then but we do now. We had 4 children (after ll years of marriage), who are now 38, 35, 34, and 31. Marilyn and I will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary this year on July l4, 2006.

Love the web site! I was browsing to see if the hot dog place was still "downtown".
Instead I reminisced, love all the Eldridge Park info
and photos. Thanks for a job well done!
