Just came home after a two week visit,stumbled on this site.Looking to see if there were any names I recognized.I haven't lived there in 25 years. Have to say shoveling snow isn't so bad when you know it's not forever!

Graduated in June 1990, left for basic training in July 1990. After basic and AIT, I was stationed in Korea for 13 months, Ft. Story Virginia for about 2 years, where I met my husband, and then in Wiesbaden, Germany, where our first son was born, for a little over a year.
Used to get back about once a year, but haven't been back in a couple of years, since my parents moved to Florida. We've been talking about making another visit soon, maybe this summer.
This site is pretty cool. I'll be checking back for the latest. It sure is better than browsing the Star Gazette! lol

Am currently living in the Western North Carolina Mountains, Blue Ridge on one side, Smokies on the other. Not far from the Appalachain Trail. I recently got yahoo back and found I was still a member of Elmira, NY and Proud to be from Elmira. My heritage goes back 5 generations in Elmira and my current profession is the same as my great great grandfathers and family that used to sell "Plants, Flowers and Bulbs in Season" on the east side of the river. I received a picture indicating the storefront dated back to 1880's. I also have done research to find out my relative, Mansel Taylor, (God rest His Soul) was the first President of the Aeronautical Society formed in the Elmira area in the 1890's. I assume he is where my Green Thumb came from as he was in the Landscape Industry, as it was back then.

Hi All--just updating info since the last I checked soon after our 50th class reunion in 2004. I have had your site linked off my SHS54 website http://www.weholly.com/SHS54 .htm since you came on board. Keep up the good work, it is always a pleasure to stop by and see what is going on. Joann and I do get up there every year in late June for a week just to relive old times. I have to admit the city and area are sure changing--but that's progress. Regards to all,

Just finished browsing the Star Gazette on line and wanted to say Congratulations for the development of Eldridge Park and for the upcoming events there. Best of luck and success. Glad also to hear that Rosenbaum's and Harold's are also going to be renovated. It's good news to see that our beloved Elmira never gives up. Best wishes to all of you.

Just stumbled upon this site. My mom graduated from EFA with the class of 1956. Her name was Patricia DeNunzio. I am looking for anyone who may have known her during her teenage years. I'm particularly interested in any photos you may have of my mom. I have a lot with her with the family, but no friends. I know one of her good friends was Sharon Cunningham. Thanks for any pictures you can share.

I'm looking for Sally Cowan, I think she has a sister named Susan. I think she graduated from Southside High. If you know how to reach her, please email me the info. She was like a big sister to me. She lived off of Maple Ave. on Lormore St.(the neighborhood was a lot different 20 some years ago).

 Thank you Nick, for posting the information on the upcoming 40th reunion for the EFA Class of '68. Our Friday Night Ice Breaker is going to be held at the Remodeled Whip Building at Eldridge Park. That event alone should be a wonderful time for all that attend.
An event is also being planned by members of the EFA Class of '67. BUT, that event will be held in TEXAS. Anyone interested in receiving information can contact Bob Mehalick at Alias11109@aol.com
He is encouraging all "Former Elmirans" who now live in or near Texas to contact him. It doesn't matter if you attended EFA or not.
Again, my thanks to Nick.. keep up the wonderful job you've been doing with this site. So many people appreciate the dedication you've given to the Memories of Elmira.

Hi to anyone from the class of '65(EFA). Just moved back to the area after 42 years in
Georgia and N. Carolina.(Only 3 years in Atlanta)I was going thru this guestbook and saw only 2 other people from 1965. Are there any more of you out there? I live right on Lake Ontario now, still come to Elmira about once a month to see a friend,(Nolan)

I last visited this site in March of 2006. I did find a few familiar names this time. Art Robertson shared pictures from the SHS Class of '66 reunion with me. What fun!! I grew up on Post Street and left Elmira in 1964.
